Lukas Nelson and The Promise of the Real

Lukas Nelson and The Promise of the Real live at TRI Studios

Another great TRI show for Yahoo! Lukas Nelson performed his new record along with his band “The Promise of the Real”.

Check out the show Engineered by myself and Brad Dollar on Yahoo.com music page.

The National with Bob Weir

Possibly our best show to date. The very talented band “The National” and Bob Weir rehearsed for two days prior to the show to learn each others material. Both video and audio teams worked very hard to bring a solid production to the audience of Yahoo.com. Over 2.5 million views and counting have seen the performance. Myself and Brad Dollar engineered the show. Being this was a larger set-up we used more dynamic vocals microphones and stayed away from large caps to prevent excessive bleed. Bob will in almost every scenario be using a Telefunken C12 for vocals. We love this on his vocals and being a studio environment we can get away with it. 409 and royer 121 on Weir’s guitar. Tele 251 on piano. Tele 260 on overheads on drums. Most traditional choices on rest of instrumentation. Shure and senheiser for drums and guitar amps. The broadcast was mixed from Ratdogs very own Mike Mcginn. Mixed with our API vision console, 2500 and Aurora lynx converter before reaching the viewers. A outstanding mix and performance from the staff at TRI.

RATDOG Reunion

Ratdog, Bob Weir, Bob Minkin Photography

Ratdog performing Live at TRI

This show came together very well. Bob is singing into a Telefunken c12. I used a 251 and 441 on horns, 409 with a 121 on guitar and 260′s on overheads. I believe we used a c12 on Upright as well and traditional microphones were used on everything else. Catch the rebroadcast Feb 22nd at TRI Studios.com . Broadcast is mixed by Mike Mcginn and engineered by myself and Brad K. Dollar.

CHICKENFOOT ALBUM RELEASE AT TRI

CHICKENFOOT AT TRI

Another great production at TRI Studios. I had the privilege of working alongside Mike Fraser (Mixer) for this Album release show. Mike Fraser used very minimal compression and more fine EQ and great Balance of instrumentation. One of the easiest mixer/engineers I’ve worked with. He Just made everything work. The Broadcast was mixed on a pair of NS10′s powered by a Mc’Intosh 275 Power amp. Check out the TRISTUDIOS website for photos and soon video clips of the show.

First Fusion – Marin Symphony and Bob Weir

Here’s a project I was very fortunate in being apart of. I worked closely with Bob Bralove, Marco d’Ambrosio and Bob Weir for several months on this project. The outcome was a great performance at the Marin Veterans Hall in front of a sold out crowd.

Here’s where I work

Bob Weir’s Tamalpais Research Institute. I’m currently engineering broadcasts for TRI along with recording several projects for Bob Weir. The facility includes two large tracking rooms and two control rooms with multiple isolation rooms. Studio 1 is equipped with Meyer Sounds “Constellation” system which allows you to change the way you perceive the acoustics of the room. This room allows musicians to place themselves in a controllable room to capture any vibe of the song. Visit tristudios.com for more pictures and videos.
